My Elder Twin

There are many people in life from which you draw your strengths. There may be many people who can be your weakness. But there are only few who can be your strength and weakness at the same time. One such person in my life is my sister. She is my pillar of strength and my biggest weakness. She motivates me when I hit the rock bottom, and criticizes me when needed. She has not just been there through my bad and good times; she has lived them all with me (almost all).

But you might be wondering why am I writing all this, all of a sudden ? The only reason I’m writing this is because she’s getting married and flying away to a far, far place. This is when I’m hit by this realization that she won’t be around in coming days. Today, she cleared the examination which is a mandate to obtain the visa. She is one step ahead in reaching her destination. Has she really taken a step ahead or has she moved one step away from me ?

I never want to make myself weak for anyone in this world. I’m that practical kinda guy who doesn’t want to give room for emotions. Probably I’ve succeeded so far. The only blemish being this blog which stands as a written proof that I can get emotional and quite too emotional. Traits of human being, huh ?

Sister looking her best. That is because she is with me. :p
When I write this, there is a flashback that appears right in front of my eyes. How she locked me when I was young and we were the only inmates of the house at that time. I was darn scared! How she always used to give the remote control of the video game, sulking at me, as she was asked by my parents to be accommodating to her younger brother. School days were more fun. I always had her back. I was proud to be known as HER brother. I liked that identity. She was a studious, famous student of our school and was always in the good books of the teachers. In fact because of her, I had to behave. May be she was the reason I was not the rebel kind. I will be forever grateful to her for it.

Travelling, exploring, trying new food has always been our common characteristic. I still remember (and she still possess) the menu that we made as children for our restaurant. Memorable days they were! The most amazing and quality time that I got to spend with her was in 2012-13. I had completed my under graduation and was preparing for entrance exams and she was doing an animation course in Ahmedabad. We stayed alone at my aunt’s vacant house for a year. And also by that time we were matured enough to be there for each other. There was no void.

The beauty of time is – it flies. All you can do is look back and cherish the memories that you hold. She has always been happier in my happiness and a troubleshooter in my bad days. If not a troubleshooter, she was a reliever, who shared the trouble. I’m not much of a crying person. In fact we always fought over how she and my mom started crying every time they missed me (it happened very recently when she was parting with me). Today all I could barely manage is to stop crying after a minute. Tears trickled down my face with the thought of she leaving me. Sent shivers down my spine. It’s the memories that helped me regain the composure and pen these thoughts down before I’m at a loss of words. All I can say to her is that I Love Her and can’t figure myself without her.

  4. You know there are times when one is in a very pensive and philosophical mood thinking about life and recalling all good memories when the bad ones are holding us so tight! The only comforting thing is to come across such beautiful thoughts, which in itself gives the happiness and warmth that has been so simply yet wonderfully worded! :))
All the happiness to her :)

  8. Thank u all for wishing me luck ahead.... Very few people knew this dimension of my brother's persona... He's not much showy getting emotional... Had a rush of emotions while witnessing his love for me reading this... One thing I'm terribly gonna miss is pampering him and getting him all in my reach... Ha ha.. Amusing though... I miss spending time with him... Specially the AHMEDABAD Days... Wild Rides late at night, exploring nosh, relishing it with the best company and that was with my cousins specially C.J. and Radhu. Golden days I should say... Like we collaquially say "Jalsa" here, it was that sort of thing... They are all the finest memories I've got for the lifetime... And I am lucky to have him in my life... What else can I say... I just LOVE him more than words can say...
